In September 2009, the Giles B. Cook American Legion Post #53 provided a much-needed new drum set that will be used by the American Legion Community Band as well as the Randolph-Macon Academy Air Force Junior ROTC Band.

Bill Nuernberg, of Post #53, presented conductor Ed Richards with a check for $2128.00 which was used to purchase the drum set.

Bruce Barnett of the Community Band was thrilled to begin rehearsing with the new drum set at the first rehearsal of the 2009-2010 season, held in the Fulton Fines Arts band room at Randolph-Macon Academy.
